The History of Wakandi

Wakandi Group AS is a Norwegian company started in 2018 as a team of business innovators and technology disruptors.

It is noteworthy that in the initial stages of operations, Wakandi Group received funding from the Norwegian Government under various programs run by “Innovation Norway.”

Tanzania

Payment Service Provider (PSP) by Bank of Tanzania

Class A: SACCO shared capital of 10-199 million with a saving account.
Class B: 200- million. Reports, are low to have a Deposit account /loan/withdraw and saving account.
What is a PSP? A payment service provider is a third-party company that assists businesses to accept a wide range of online payment methods, such as online banking, credit cards, debit cards, e-wallets, cash cards, and more. They ensure customers’ transactions make it from point A to point B, safely and securely.

Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) License

What is TCRA License? It is a license that allows us to offer mobile applications.

Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission (TCDC) License

What is TCDC License? TCDC License allows us to provide ICT services to cooperative societies in Tanzania.

BRELA Business License

What is BRELA Business License? This license allows us to operate the business of software development, installation, and maintenance. 

Kenya

Payment Service Provider (PSP) by Central Bank of Kenya

What is PSP License? This license allows to provide payment gateway services to cooperative socities in Kenya.

Uganda

Electronic Transaction Certificate by NITA-U

What is NITA-U Certificate? This certificate allows us to run our system in integration with different mobile network operators in Uganda. 

Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) License

What is PDPO License? It is a license that allows us to operate as a data controller and data processor in Uganda. In other words, handle personal data.

Payment Service Operator (PSO) third-party license from the Bank of Uganda

What is PSO license? This license allows Wakandi to operate and manage payment systems that facilitate secure and efficient funds transfer within SACCOs or MFIs. A PSO is a regulated entity that provides infrastructure for digital payments, ensuring smooth, secure, and fast transactions. Wakandi's PSO license enables us to offer reliable financial solutions that enhance the way SACCOs and other institutions manage their payments.
