Wakandi onboards Beatus Rutta as Country Manager in Tanzania

Wakandi Tanzania welcomes Beatus Rutta, a seasoned banker with over 16 years of experience, as the Country Manager in Tanzania. Beatus will be working closely with the Wakandi Tanzania team to manage and oversee all aspects of business operations. He will be responsible for maintaining a work culture that provides a world-class customer experience. He will also ensure that Wakandi operates in a compliant manner in relation to local laws and regulations in Tanzania.

Beatus has previously worked with various regional and international banks offering financial products and services in the Tanzanian market. With over 16 years of experience, he has been at the forefront of regional leadership overseeing resources and people management and operations management. He has substantial experience in building and implementing strategies that focus on business growth, user experience and profitability. He has also been responsible for developing and managing clients relationships and partnerships for several banking institutions.

Beatus holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Eastern & Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI), a Postgraduate Diploma in project management from Tanzania Institute of Project Management and a BSc (Ed) from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).

Beatus has joined the Wakandi Tanzania team to support and digitize informal financial groups (IFGs) in Tanzania. He focuses on bringing innovation to IFGs in Tanzania with Wakandi and is excited to start his new journey. He says, ”I am a strategy-driven and result-focused manager who strives in a fast-paced, innovative and challenging environment. I am very excited to join the Wakandi team and looking forward to working with the Wakandi group in driving the digitization of the informal financial groups in Tanzania.”

With Beatus in our team, we aim to further streamline our operations and become more compliant with all related laws and regulations. This could be a significant step for our company as we were recently awarded the Payment Service Provider license by the Bank of Tanzania (BoT). The license places us together with a few other companies that work within the payment space. We are now the closest to launch our CAMS solution in Tanzania and enable digital savings and credit services for thousands of SACCOS members.

We are moving ahead on the path to bringing technology to millions of people working in the informal economy. It is our aim to work closely with local communities to solve issues they face at the core.
